Senior Living Communities
Live, interactive Laughter Yoga that brings residents together through intentional laughter, breathing, gentle movement, music, playfulness and relaxation — adapted for older adults and accessible from a chair.
What It Actually Is
Residents don’t need to understand jokes, remember choreography, or perform anything correctly. A facilitator guides the room through laughter, breathing, rhythm, music, simple movement and playful interaction.
No mats and no floor work. Residents can remain seated throughout, including those using wheelchairs or walkers.
Your residents gather in the activity room. Our facilitator joins live, sees the group, responds to the room and leads in real time.
Laughing, smiling, clapping, vocalizing, moving a hand, responding to music or simply watching can all be meaningful participation.
Why Laughter Yoga?
The laughter may last for a session. The experience can reach into mood, connection, engagement, energy and the way residents experience being together.
Creates moments of playfulness, emotional lift and genuine enjoyment.
Shared laughter creates connection without requiring long conversation.
Research suggests regular Laughter Yoga can support reduced loneliness and greater connection.
Controlled research has reported improvements in resilience and quality-of-life measures.
Laughter, breathing and relaxation create a natural shift away from tension and toward ease.
Residents breathe, vocalize, clap and move at their own level — engagement without the pressure of exercise.
Inside a Session
A session builds gradually. We begin simply, create safety and familiarity, then let the energy grow before bringing everyone back down with breathing and relaxation.
Simple greetings, clapping and rhythm help residents orient to the group.
Gentle breathing and easy movements wake up the body.
Guided laughter introduces playfulness. What begins intentionally often becomes spontaneous.
Music, gestures, eye contact and call-and-response create a social experience.
Breathing and relaxation close the session and help the room return to calm.
Dementia & Memory Care
Residents living with dementia may not follow a conventional chair-yoga or exercise class — and they don’t have to in Laughter Yoga.
There is no joke to understand and no sequence to remember. Engagement may show up as a smile, eye contact, clapping, a sound, a hand moving with the music, imitation, laughter, or simply becoming more alert to what is happening in the room.
Backed by Research
The evidence is still developing, but studies in older adults and residential care have reported promising outcomes in areas that matter deeply in senior living.

Questions Directors Ask
That’s the right question. The best activity is the one your residents can actually enter in their own way.
No. The session can be fully seated and adapted for residents using wheelchairs or walkers.
This is not a prerecorded video. A facilitator is live, sees the room and responds to residents. The screen becomes the doorway to a two-way group experience.
It can be especially accessible because residents don’t need to understand jokes or remember a sequence.
That’s completely fine. Watching, smiling, clapping, vocalizing or moving along can all count.
No. Your team gathers residents, connects the screen and provides the usual resident support. Our facilitator leads.
